Ignorance is systemic. Apathy is systemic. Your lack of interest in politics (or conversely your extreme interest in partisan politics whereby you vehemently support one of two nearly identical candidates) is a result of a well-designed system that benefits from your ignorance and your apathy. So when you find yourself feeling isolated because you don’t give two fucks about who wins this Presidential race, don’t. You aren’t supposed to care. That’s the point. You’re presented with a non-choice and there’s a societal expectation that you choose between the two, and pretend to care. This way, everyone is either ignorant&apathetic or in support of one of the two neoliberal capitalist candidates. Anyone who falls outside of that dichotomy is rendered irrelevant. Oh lawd, I can’t wait for this election to be over.
