Oh sweet Jesus, the internalized sexism and objectification of other women…I can’t even. Sometimes I love Rihanna because she is unafraid to put her sexuality on display (and reveal the subtleties of slut-shaming and society’s narrative on the role of women), but then she backs it up with problematic statements such as this one.
I think it is also interesting to note that she is a Black woman saying this about a white woman who does not share the same class privileges as her (Rihanna easily out-earns Cheryl Cole, is far more popular in the mainstream, and has more clout in the entertainment industry). Not sure how to analyze it at this late hour, though.
